(Here's a good example of what can be achieved. Linda wanted something special for son's speech therapist, Maura. Linda has kindly given her permission for her poem and story to be published)

What is your name : Linda

Who do you want the poem written for: My son Jordan's speech therapist Maura.

Why do you want the poem written: When my son turned a year old he started getting sick frequently, he had multiple ear infections and had rota virus several times which caused him to be in the hospital often one of those times he had stopped breathing.  When he finally overcame all of his illnesses. Jordan was almost 2 and didn't want to talk very much, he only knew about 5 words he would point or drag you to what he wanted. We were concerned if he could learn to talk.  Maura became his speech Therapist and has been a wonderful person to work with.

What are the key messages you would like to send: Maura came into our lives and started when Jordan was 2 and worked with him for a year.  It was a tough road in the beginning because he was scared and confused.  Maura was very patient, kind, and gentle to him.  She taught him to speak by playing with games and toys it was so amazing to watch her techniques. She had taken this sad little boy, who was frustrated because nobody understood him to this happy little talking 3 year old.

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: The most heart-warming moment was when Jordan asked us for something he wanted (which was a drink) instead of hitting or pulling your hand to the fridge.  I started to cry it was so comforting for us to hear his little voice and finally understand him. Because then at that moment we felt he was going to be ok. For so long because of his illnesses we thought he was going to have some communicating problems.

Do you have any other comments or thoughts: It takes a special kind of person to do what Maura does.  I can't say or thank her enough for what she has been able to do for Jordan.  She is my hero. I'm at a loss for words to truly say how glad we are Maura came into our lives.

What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): happy

Your Miracles

As you would know only too well,
the right words can be hard to find,
but we've got so much gratitude in our hearts,
we just had to share what's on our mind.

You see, we think you're truly magnificent,
it's simply miracles that you perform every day,
and we know exactly the difference that you've made,
and that one line leaves so much to say.

You see, Jordan had a difficult start in life,
for his first two years he was in and out all the time,
one of those times he actually stopped breathing,
but thankfully, he found the words to complete this rhyme.

Maura, you came into our life when Jordan was two,
and you worked with him for about a year,
it was a tough road in the beginning, he was scared,
but towards his future, you started to gently steer.

You were so very patient, kind and gentle,
and you coaxed him carefully, week by week,
you'd play with him and with his games and toys,
and quite miraculously, he slowly started to speak.

You had taken a sad little boy,
who was frustrated because no one did as he told,
and quite magically, you transformed him,
into this happy, talking three year old.

And I remember this moment so very well,
in truth, I'll remember it for the rest of my days,
it was when Jordan asked us for a drink from the fridge,
and our lives had changed in so many ways.

I started to cry when I heard his little voice,
and at that moment, we felt he was going to be alright,
for so long, we thought he'd struggle to communicate,
and there he was, asking us for a Sprite.

It takes a special type of person to do what you do,
I'm just so thankful that you landed on Planet Earth,
because you have given me and Jordan the words,
to tell you just what your life is really worth.

And we just wanted to say thank you,
I guess that's really what these words are for,
here's to you, Maura, you're truly wonderful,
and here's to you performing your miracles, for evermore.

Hi Allen,

I think it is perfect, we don't need to change anything.  I would like the cloud paper.  You may use the poem on your web site.

Thanks, Linda
